How long has Champion Day Camp been in operation? We have been providing great summers on our property since 1978.
Are you a competitive or non-competitive camp? Our All-Activity Camp is fun filled and non-competitive. Participation is stressed and all activities are geared for the camper who wants an all around experience.
Our All-Sports Academy is instructional and attracts those youngsters who want an all around sports experience. The campers need not be competitive or talented but must have a desire to be a better athlete.
What are the camp hours? Camp hours are 9 AM through 4 PM. Buses leave camp at 4 PM. For a slight charge parents may drop off campers from 7 – 8:30 AM and pick them up from 4:30 – 6 PM. The Champion Day Camp program is a 5 day a week program with the exception of the Kiddie Corral Nursery Camp. Kiddie Corral Parents may select Full (9 – 4) or Mini Days (11 – 4) and have an option of 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
What kind of lunches do you serve? Our lunches are buffet-style. In addition to the special daily items such as pizza, popcorn chicken, barbeque, pasta, etc., everyday a wide variety of salads, fruits, bagels, yogurts, etc. are available. Except our Kiddie Corral campers, the youngsters serve themselves at the buffet. The Lunch Menu is available at www.championdaycamp.com/menu.pdf.
How many children are in each group? Depending on the age of the campers, Board of Health regulations require at least one counselor for every 12 campers. Our actual ratios are much lower. Our youngest groups have a ratio of 1 counselor to every 4 campers.
Do you have a parent visiting day? No! Every day is a visiting day. Parents may come any day and spend some time observing their youngster. We have a 4th of July Family Picnic which you will hear more about. It’s fun, so don’t miss it. The Champion Parent Manual is available at www.championdaycamp.com/parent.pdf.
Do you have a nurse on Staff? We have full-time nurses and EMT’s.
Are you accredited by the American Camp Association? Of course, as well as by the NYS Board of Health.
Can a camper attend both the All-Sports and All-Activity? Yes. There is a two week minimum stay in All-Sports and a four week minimum stay in All-Activity.
Are there any extra fees charged? The only options are for transportation, if needed, and for the Extreme Trip Program. Everything else such as lunch, snacks, towels, camp shirt, equipment, group photo, scheduled trips, special events, surprise guests and more are included in the camp fee. The Extreme Trip Flyer is available at www.championdaycamp.com/extreme.pdf.
What is your refund policy? For first time campers, you may receive a FULL refund if after one week you are not happy with Champion. No questions asked.
Do you have enough bathrooms and water fountains? We have over 15 bathrooms and we have water fountains and water jugs placed around the camp.
How do you protect against ticks and mosquitoes? We have no lakes, no woods, very little brush and we keep the grass mowed short. We educate and alert counselors to be aware of ticks and bites. We spray with an approved insecticide whenever necessary.
What do you do on rainy days? We are well prepared for 40 days of rain, if necessary. We have a wide variety of activities, trips and both on site and off site “special events” that turn “rainy days” into “sunny days”. Our many buildings and pavilions can accommodate the entire camp. Also, be sure to send a change of clothing if the weather looks inclement.
